Barefoot Garden Route

Barefoot Garden Route 2

Hi there, my name is Sonia.

I live in the forest in the Garden Route, South Africa.  I’m a traveler, writer and photographer and am so excited to bring you budget travel tips and information about our beautiful area.  While planning your trip, experience the Garden Route through my words and my lens.

Before settling back in my home country, South Africa, I traveled for 15 years.  While traveling, my aim was always  to spend as little as possible money on accommodation as it is something you pay for everyday while you travel. I  looked out for simple yet inspiring and clean accommodation – funky, down-to-earth places where I could meet fellow travelers and cool locals and not break my budget.  These locals were always so kind and eager to show us visitors the places you didn’t find in travel guides.  For me, these experiences were the highlights of my travels – form London to the Amazon jungle.

And that is exactly what I want to do for you as you decide where you will stay and what you will do whilst visiting the Garden Route.   I want to share with you the down-to earth, barefoot side of the Garden Route.  I know you will find amazing and affordable accommodation options on my blog.  You will also find firsthand information about the hundreds of activities happening here on our stunning stretch of coast.  Enjoy your adventure!
